COAS Shooters maintained their winning streak with a hard-fought 24–21 victory over Niger United in the headline match of Day 10 at the 2025 Ardova Handball Premier League Phase 1, taking place in Benin City, Edo State.
The Nigerian Army side put up a strong defensive performance and went into halftime with a commanding 18–10 lead. Despite a spirited second-half fightback by Niger United, COAS Shooters held firm, thanks in part to a standout 9-goal performance from Adeshola Adelakun.
In another closely contested match, De Defenders edged Benue Buffaloes 22–20 after leading 11–08 at the break. The narrow scoreline was largely due to the heroics of Benue Buffaloes’ goalkeeper, Amos Iorngohol, who made 12 crucial saves to keep his team in the game.
There was late drama as Correction Boys and Adamawa Warriors battled to a 29–29 draw. The Nigeria Prisons side rallied from a 4-goal halftime deficit (14–18) to secure a point, with Adamawa Warriors goalkeeper David Moses registering 14 key saves.
Safety Shooters cruised to a 28–17 win over Osun United in a one-sided encounter, while the highly anticipated clash between Rima Strikers and Tojemarine Academy ended 21–21. Rima recovered from a 4-goal halftime deficit (09–13) to earn a share of the spoils.
In the women’s division, Imo Grasshoppers returned to winning ways with a commanding 26–16 win over Plateau Peacocks. Leading 14–09 at halftime, the Owerri-based side finished strong, thanks to goalkeeper Nkemelu Chinonye, who made 15 impressive saves.
Meanwhile, Safety Babes extended their unbeaten run with a dominant 37–26 victory over Defender Babes. After a tight 17–15 lead at halftime, the defending champions turned on the style in the second half to comfortably seal the win. Remarkably, Safety Babes have not lost a match since the 2022 season.
