The first-place winners in both categories will walk away with N3.5 million each, while the runners-up will secure N2.5 million. Third-place finishers will not be left empty-handed, with each team earning N1.5 million.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Volleyball Coaches Association (NVCA), Elishama Elam, expressed his gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi (MFR), for his significant investment in volleyball.
"The prize money for this year's league is truly remarkable. It will undoubtedly serve as a huge motivator for all the teams.
“This gesture shows the tremendous support that Customs has for the development of volleyball in Nigeria, and we are hopeful that it will spur the players to give their absolute best during the second phase of the competition," Elam said.
As teams prepare to take to the court, Martin Melandi, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, addressed the players and coaches during the technical meeting.
He encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
"We expect all players to demonstrate professionalism and fair play," Melandi remarked.
"Additionally, the competition will follow the current FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) rules until the new regulations are introduced next year."
The technical meeting, attended by coaches of the participating teams and referees, was an essential step in ensuring the smooth operation of the competition, setting the stage for what promises to be an exhilarating and competitive league.
