12th Awa Ibraheem Junior Golf Open Set for October 17 at Ikeja Golf Club

The organisers of the annual Awa Ibraheem Junior Golf Competition announced on Wednesday that the 12th edition of the cadet golf tournament will tee off on October 17, 2025.

 

According to Organizing Secretary Emma Ekong, Ikeja Golf Club in Lagos will once again have the honour of hosting the prestigious event, which attracts junior golfers from across the country.

 

“This is to inform you that the 12th Awa Ibraheem Junior Open Championship is scheduled for Friday, October 17, to Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Ikeja Golf Club, Lagos State,” Ekong said.

 

He added that the competition has been selected by the Nigeria School Sports Federation as one of the qualifiers for the 2026 World School Golf Championship in Morocco.

 

“In our continued effort to raise the standard of play in the forthcoming championship, the National Order of Merit will be used, and a wider geographical spread will be considered in selecting the field size. The National Order of Merit list for qualified junior players will be posted online for registration. Official request letters for states and ministries can also be provided earlier if required,” he explained.

 

This year, Ikeja Golf Club has approved the use of the course for practice on Friday, October 17, starting from 11 a.m.

 

The tournament is open to boys and girls between the ages of six and sixteen.
