Sergio Perez will be leaving Red Bull Racing after the 2024 season, as reported by ESPN. The 34-year-old driver, currently in eighth place in the Formula 1 standings with one race left, has failed to secure a win this season. His only podium finishes occurred in the opening five events of the year. The F1 season concludes with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday.
After Perez finished 17th in the recent Qatar Grand Prix, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner addressed the situation, noting that Perez would be allowed to make his own decision regarding his future with the team. While Perez signed a contract extension for 2025, which makes an immediate departure unlikely, Horner suggested the possibility of moving him to an ambassadorial role if he stays with Red Bull.
Since joining Red Bull in 2021, Perez has achieved six wins and 39 podium finishes, with his last victory coming at the 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Despite his past successes, his future at Red Bull now seems uncertain as the team looks ahead to next season.
