Sergio Perez, who left Red Bull after a disappointing 2024 season, is reportedly working on a return to Formula 1 with Cadillac. The 35-year-old, who has secured six Grand Prix victories, is in discussions with Cadillac about joining the team on a full-time basis for the 2026 season, according to Spanish outlet Marca.
Cadillac, which recently confirmed its partnership with General Motors for an F1 entry, is aiming to become the 11th team on the grid. Although the team is unable to produce its own engines until 2028, it is reportedly negotiating with Ferrari to purchase customer engines for its upcoming F1 debut.
Cadillac has made it a priority to sign an experienced driver, and Perez is a strong candidate for the role. His departure from Red Bull followed a season in which he finished 224 points behind teammate Max Verstappen, preventing the team from securing the Constructors' Championship, which was claimed by McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
