Rio de Janeiro has been chosen as the host city for the official MotoGP 2027 Season Launch, bringing the championship’s high-profile pre-season event to Brazil on February 21, 2027. The announcement puts the Brazilian city in the international spotlight as MotoGP prepares to enter a new era.
The headline presentation will be staged at Botafogo Beach, with the iconic Sugarloaf Mountain expected to provide the backdrop. Teams, riders and manufacturers will gather in Rio as the championship unveils its plans for the upcoming season.
The decision comes after MotoGP’s successful return to Brazil in 2026. The Grand Prix weekend in Goiânia attracted almost 150,000 spectators, highlighting the country's strong following for motorcycle racing and its importance to the championship.
Rio’s selection builds on that momentum and gives the city an opportunity to combine its globally recognised landmarks with a major international sporting occasion. The 2027 launch will also mark the beginning of a significant technical change for MotoGP, with new 850cc motorcycles replacing the current 1000cc machines.
