Red Bull team principal Christian Horner cleared of inappropriate behavior allegations

Posted : 01 March 2024

Christian Horner has been at the helm of Red Bull since the team's inception on the Formula 1 grid in 2005. Recently, Horner faced allegations of inappropriate behavior, particularly concerning messages that were leaked and circulated.

However, after an internal investigation, he was cleared of any wrongdoing towards a female colleague. Despite an anonymous email containing a link to alleged messages being sent to Formula 1 personnel and media, Horner has firmly denied the accusations, emphasizing that he has consistently refuted such claims.

In response to the leaked messages, Horner declined to comment on anonymous speculation but reiterated his denial of the allegations. The email, sent to 149 individuals involved in the sport, contained a link to the messages in question.

Horner's commitment to respecting the integrity of the independent investigation was emphasized in his statement. The investigation, conducted by an independent specialist barrister, concluded by dismissing the complaint, allowing Horner to maintain his focus on the upcoming season.

Red Bull GmbH, the parent company of the F1 team, addressed the issue as a private matter between Horner and another individual. The company refrained from providing details about the internal investigation, citing confidentiality due to the private information involved.

Despite calls for transparency from Mercedes and McLaren bosses, Toto Wolff and Zak Brown, Red Bull GmbH stood by the fairness, rigor, and impartiality of the investigation. The matter has been brought to the attention of the FIA, with discussions ongoing between the governing body and F1 management.
