Red Bull's chief technical officer Adrian Newey set to depart after 19-year stint

Posted : 01 May 2024

Red Bull's renowned chief technical officer, Adrian Newey, is set to depart from the Formula One team in early 2025, marking the end of his illustrious 19-year tenure. Speculation regarding Newey's departure arose last week amid controversies involving team principal Christian Horner, fueling anticipation for the impending bidding war for Newey's sought-after expertise.

The departure announcement is poised to ignite intense competition among F1 teams vying for Newey's services, with Ferrari leading the pack, especially with the potential addition of Lewis Hamilton to their roster.

Newey, hailed as one of the greatest F1 designers and a key architect of Red Bull's dominance, is scheduled to conclude his tenure in the "first quarter" of the upcoming year, according to a statement released by Red Bull.

Expressing gratitude for his journey, Newey reminisced about fulfilling his childhood dream of designing fast cars and contributing to Red Bull Racing's meteoric rise from a newcomer to a multiple title-winning powerhouse.

Team principal Christian Horner commended Newey's pivotal role in Red Bull Racing's success over the past two decades, attributing numerous achievements to Newey's visionary approach and relentless pursuit of excellence.
