Racing Bulls to Bring Double Upgrade Package in Miami, Canada After F1 Calendar Shake-Up

Posted : 15 April 2026

The Racing Bulls Formula One team is set to introduce two major performance upgrades in quick succession at the Miami and Canadian Grands Prix, following unexpected changes to the 2026 F1 calendar. The revised schedule has reshuffled development plans, forcing the team to adjust its upgrade strategy earlier than originally intended.

Team principal Alan Permane explained that the original plan was to introduce the first major upgrade package at Bahrain, followed by a second in Montreal later in the season. However, with Miami now taking Bahrain’s place in the early calendar sequence, the development rollout has been moved forward.

As a result, the team will bring its first significant upgrade package to Miami, before following it up with another set of improvements in Canada. Permane noted that logistical constraints prevented both updates from being combined into a single race weekend package, leading to the unusual situation of introducing one upgrade shortly before replacing it with another.

Despite the disruption, the team views the accelerated rollout as an opportunity to refine performance earlier in the season. Additional flexibility in part availability and development timing has also allowed Racing Bulls to carry out unexpected chassis work during the gap in the race calendar.

Racing Bulls currently sit seventh in the constructors’ standings after the opening rounds of the season. The team, powered by drivers Liam Lawson and rookie Arvid Lindblad, has been competitive in qualifying sessions but has struggled to consistently convert pace into strong race results.

The midfield battle remains tightly contested, with Racing Bulls closely matched against teams such as Alpine and Haas, while still trailing the leading trio. However, the team has managed to score points in every race so far, keeping them firmly in contention within the competitive midfield pack.

Permane expressed confidence that the upcoming upgrades could help shift the team closer to the front of the midfield group. He acknowledged that while qualifying performance has been encouraging, race pace remains an area requiring improvement.

He also noted that the adjusted April schedule has allowed the wider organisation to focus on development work that would not normally be possible so early in the season. While race operations have seen some downtime, engineering departments have used the opportunity to accelerate future performance upgrades.

Looking ahead, Racing Bulls believe the combination of Miami and Canada upgrades could significantly strengthen their position in the championship battle. The team hopes the new components will help bridge the gap to the top of the midfield and improve consistency across both qualifying and race conditions.
