Oliver Solberg Wins Rally Chile as Toyota Secures Record-Equalling WRC Title

Oliver Solberg completed a dominant weekend at Rally Chile on Sunday, securing his second WRC victory of the season while helping Toyota clinch a record-equalling 10th manufacturers’ championship. The Swedish driver controlled the rally from the opening stage and held off nine-time world champion Sébastien Ogier by 16.6 seconds at the finish.

Solberg, driving a Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 with co-driver Elliott Edmondson, produced a measured performance through the final stages to complete his third career WRC victory. Adrien Fourmaux finished third for Hyundai, 33.3 seconds behind the winner, while Toyota teammates Sami Pajari and Elfyn Evans completed the top five.

The 24-year-old built his advantage throughout the weekend and successfully managed the pressure from Ogier, who had closed the gap during Saturday's stages. Solberg remained composed on Sunday despite the challenging conditions and several punctures affecting competitors.

Victory also moved Solberg firmly into the drivers' championship fight. He now sits third on 209 points, just four points behind Pajari and 21 behind championship leader Evans with two rallies remaining.

Toyota's success was another major highlight of the weekend. The Japanese manufacturer secured its sixth consecutive WRC manufacturers' title, extending its run of championship dominance since 2021. Its 10th overall manufacturers' crown moves Toyota level with Lancia for the most titles in WRC history.

Evans arrived in Chile leading the drivers' standings but endured a costly final day. A puncture forced the Welshman to stop and change a tyre, costing him more than two minutes and dropping him from second to fifth. Despite the setback, he retains the championship lead with 230 points.

Pajari remains second with 213 points, while Ogier is fourth on 171. The title battle will continue in Sardinia before the championship heads to Saudi Arabia, although the status of the Saudi event remains uncertain.
