Marc Marquez showcased his dominance by setting the fastest lap during the second day of pre-season testing at the Buriram circuit in Thailand, clocking 1 minute 28.855 seconds. The six-time Spanish world champion led the session ahead of his brother, Alex Marquez, who recorded 1 minute 29.034 seconds, and Italy’s Marco Bezzecchi, who finished third with 1 minute 29.060 seconds.
The test session, held just two weeks before the 2025 MotoGP season opener, provided valuable insights into the riders' form and performance.
Marquez’s strong showing marked his second impressive performance since joining the Ducati team in January, where he partners reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia in pursuit of the title. Bagnaia finished fifth on the timing charts with a lap of 1 minute 29.378 seconds.
Despite the intense competition, Marquez remained confident, expressing satisfaction with his pre-season progress. Meanwhile, reigning champion Jorge Martin was absent from testing due to a hand injury sustained in a crash in Malaysia, which required surgery.
The testing conditions were intense, with track temperatures soaring to 36 degrees Celsius (96.8 Fahrenheit), mirroring the challenging climate riders will face at the season-opening Thai Grand Prix on March 2.
The race in Buriram will mark the beginning of the longest season in MotoGP history, featuring an unprecedented 22 races. With Marquez already setting a blistering pace, the stage is set for an exciting championship battle in 2025.
