Lewis Hamilton Set to Work with New Race Engineer as Ferrari Reshuffles Staff

Seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton will start the 2026 season with a new race engineer after Ferrari confirmed that Riccardo Adami has been reassigned to a different role.

The Italian team announced on Friday that Adami will now focus on managing the Driver Academy and overseeing testing programs for previous cars. Ferrari, which finished fourth overall last season without claiming a victory, said the identity of Hamilton’s new engineer will be revealed in due course.

Hamilton, who joined Ferrari from Mercedes last season, downplayed suggestions of friction with Adami following tense radio exchanges during the opening race in Australia. “Do we have disagreements? Yes, like everyone does in relationships.

But we work through them. We are both in it together,” the 41-year-old said last May. Despite the occasional awkward communication on race weekends, Hamilton continued to work closely with Adami until the end of the 2025 season, although he did not secure a single podium finish—a career low—unlike teammate Charles Leclerc.

Adami brings 11 years of experience at Ferrari, having previously worked with four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel and Spaniard Carlos Sainz. Ferrari is preparing for the official livery launch next week, ahead of closed-door testing in Barcelona from January 26-30.

The 2026 season, featuring a 24-race calendar and a major technical overhaul of engines, kicks off in Australia on March 8, marking the start of a new era in Formula One.
