Lewis Hamilton Secures Canadian GP Podium

Lewis Hamilton delivered a strong performance to finish second for Ferrari at the Canadian Grand Prix, marking one of his best results since joining the team and celebrating a return to form at a circuit he called his favourite in the world.

The seven-time world champion produced a vintage drive at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve to claim his second podium of the season and the 104th podium finish of his Formula 1 career.

Hamilton expressed his delight after the race, thanking his Ferrari team for their support and acknowledging the challenges of the past year, while praising the atmosphere and history of the Canadian circuit.

The 41-year-old has enjoyed great success in Montreal throughout his career, earning his maiden Formula 1 victory there in 2007 and sharing the record of seven wins at the track with Michael Schumacher.

Encouraged by his result, Hamilton said Ferrari’s progress gives him optimism for the rest of the season, highlighting improvements within the team and suggesting there is more performance to unlock.

In the race, Mercedes youngster Kimi Antonelli took victory to extend his championship lead over teammate George Russell to 43 points after another impressive display.

Hamilton admitted Mercedes’ recent upgrade package had strengthened their performance but remained confident Ferrari could close the gap with continued development.

He added that Ferrari’s efforts at the factory were beginning to show promise and stressed the importance of maintaining momentum going forward.

Teammate Charles Leclerc finished fourth but endured a difficult race, admitting he struggled with tyre performance and lacked confidence in the car.

Leclerc took responsibility for his performance but acknowledged Hamilton’s strong result as evidence of the potential within Ferrari’s package.
