Lewis Hamilton says he and Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc have resolved their differences following their controversial clash at the Italian Grand Prix.

The Ferrari drivers found themselves at the centre of attention at Monza after running side-by-side through the opening chicane. Hamilton was forced onto the gravel and dropped down the order, while Leclerc crashed out two laps later after losing control at the final corner. Hamilton eventually recovered to finish sixth in Ferrari’s home race.

The incident was the latest flashpoint between the team-mates after tensions also emerged during the Dutch Grand Prix, where Hamilton was frustrated by Ferrari’s handling of a situation involving Leclerc. With both drivers closely matched, their rivalry has increasingly become an important storyline within the team.

Hamilton said the pair addressed the Monza incident privately and were able to put the disagreement behind them.

“We were just both open and honest, and we squashed it. We can move on,” Hamilton said, adding that the conversation demonstrated Leclerc’s maturity.

The seven-time world champion acknowledged that disagreements are inevitable when two competitive drivers are fighting closely on track. He also stressed that both drivers share the same objective of delivering strong results for Ferrari.

Leclerc likewise played down any lasting tension, admitting that the battle with Hamilton had been too close but insisting that their relationship remained strong. He said the pair had discussed what happened and agreed on what should be avoided in future races.

The Monegasque driver also highlighted the added pressure of the incident taking place at Monza, where Ferrari races in front of its passionate home crowd. He noted that incidents involving the two Ferrari cars naturally attract significant attention.

Beyond the clash, Hamilton believes Ferrari must improve how it operates as a team. The Briton said better communication and cooperation between the drivers could help the team convert strong performances into more podium finishes.

Ferrari have also struggled to execute qualifying sessions cleanly in recent races, with Hamilton stressing that improving the team’s processes will take time rather than being an instant fix.
