Lewis Hamilton Acknowledges Ferrari’s Time Running Out but Hopes for Monaco Revival

Posted : 23 May 2025

Lewis Hamilton acknowledged on Thursday that time is running out for Ferrari to turn around their 2025 season but remains optimistic about improving his performance at the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix. Since his move from Mercedes—where he secured six of his seven world championships—Hamilton has faced intense scrutiny and pressure, yet he is still chasing his first podium with Ferrari after seven races.

Despite this, a strong fourth-place finish at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, where he outpaced teammate Charles Leclerc for the first time, has boosted his confidence ahead of Monaco.

Hamilton is also aware that Ferrari may soon halt development on this year’s car to focus on the new power unit regulations coming in 2026. He described the current season as a “foundation year,” emphasizing his role in helping the team make necessary changes for future success.

While admitting the car needs to be faster, Hamilton expressed faith that improvements are possible and is hopeful the upgrades will enhance his qualifying performance at Monaco.

Meanwhile, Leclerc, who won at Monaco last year in front of his home crowd, offered a more cautious outlook. He admitted the Ferrari struggles in low-speed corners, which dominate the Monaco circuit, meaning the team faces a tough challenge this weekend.

However, Leclerc remains hopeful that Monaco’s unique nature might bring some surprises and that qualifying could reveal newfound potential in the car. With a deep familiarity of Monaco’s streets, Leclerc is holding onto the hope of replicating last year’s success despite the current difficulties.
