Reigning MotoGP champion Jorge Martin is on track to make his highly anticipated return at the upcoming Czech Grand Prix, scheduled for July 18–20 in Brno. After a series of injuries that sidelined him for most of the season, the Aprilia rider completed a successful 64-lap testing session at the Misano circuit on Wednesday. Martin’s comeback remains contingent on passing a final medical assessment, but the team is optimistic about his participation.
The 27-year-old Spaniard’s 2025 season was derailed before it began. A crash during pre-season testing left him with wrist and ankle injuries that forced him to miss the first three races. In his comeback attempt at the Qatar Grand Prix, he suffered another heavy fall that resulted in a collapsed lung and bruised ribs, extending his absence from the grid.
Reflecting on his return, Martin expressed relief and excitement. “It’s been a tough journey, but I’m really happy to be back on the bike after more than three months. The feeling today was fantastic, and I’m hopeful everything stays on track so I can train normally and be fully fit for Brno,” he said. Despite the joy of returning, Martin confirmed his intention to leave Aprilia ahead of the 2026 season. However, the team insists he remains under contract through 2026 and is prepared to pursue legal action if necessary to enforce the deal.
Martin will not compete in this weekend’s German Grand Prix, which marks the halfway point of the season. Ducati’s Marc Marquez currently leads the riders’ standings with 307 points, followed by his brother Alex Marquez of Gresini Racing. Aprilia’s top-ranked rider, Marco Bezzecchi, sits in sixth place, trailing by 186 points.
