Jack Doohan Condemns Online Abuse of Family After Alpine Exit

Posted : 20 May 2025

Jack Doohan, a 22-year-old Australian Formula One driver and son of former motorcycling world champion Mick Doohan, has spoken out against the online abuse directed at his family. Doohan, recently replaced by Argentina’s Franco Colapinto on the Alpine team after just six races, addressed his nearly 500,000 Instagram followers to condemn a fake post circulating on social media that falsely attributed a mocking comment to his father.

The fabricated image, which featured Colapinto following a crash and a fake comment from Mick Doohan reading “Very impressive,” was picked up by several Argentine media outlets, triggering a wave of online harassment against the Doohan family.

Jack clarified that the post was entirely false and expressed frustration at the level of abuse his family has endured. "Please stop harassing my family. I didn't think I would have to get to this point," he wrote, sharing a screenshot of the doctored post.

Alpine, where Jack now serves as a reserve driver, released a statement supporting him and denouncing the abuse. The team emphasized the humanity behind its athletes, reminding fans that drivers are individuals with families and emotions. They urged the motorsport community to foster kindness and respect. The next race on the F1 calendar takes place in Monaco this coming weekend.
