Isack Hadjar to Miss Italian GP as Liam Lawson Gets Another Red Bull Chance

Isack Hadjar will miss the Italian Grand Prix at Monza this weekend as he continues to recover from the wrist injury that kept him out of the Dutch Grand Prix. Red Bull confirmed on Wednesday that the Frenchman has not recovered sufficiently to return to competition.

Liam Lawson will therefore remain alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull for a second consecutive race. The New Zealander stepped in for Hadjar at Zandvoort and impressed on short notice, securing seventh place and earning valuable points for the team.

Red Bull said Hadjar is making encouraging progress but stressed that it does not want to take unnecessary risks with his recovery. The 21-year-old suffered the wrist injury during boxing training over the summer break and has now been ruled out of two successive Grands Prix.

The changes also mean Yuki Tsunoda will once again move into Lawson's Racing Bulls seat. Tsunoda returned to the team at Zandvoort and finished 11th, narrowly missing out on a points-paying position. He will race alongside rookie Arvid Lindblad at Monza.

Lawson's second opportunity with Red Bull comes after an encouraging weekend in the Netherlands. Despite having limited preparation time in the RB22, he qualified strongly and followed it up with a seventh-place finish, giving him another chance to demonstrate his capabilities at the senior team.

Meanwhile, Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli heads into his home Italian Grand Prix leading the championship. The 20-year-old holds a 59-point advantage over teammate George Russell, with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton also in contention.
