IndyCar has released its 2026 calendar, highlighting 17 races, including three new events, a record four races in March, and the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 24. Spain’s Alex Palou, the reigning Indy 500 winner, will seek his fourth consecutive season championship and fifth in six years.
The new schedule sees the removal of two Iowa races and the Thermal event near Palm Springs, California. In their place, IndyCar will host events at Phoenix Raceway, the Texas street race in Arlington, and a second race at the Milwaukee Mile oval. Additionally, the Canadian street race traditionally held in Toronto will move to nearby Markham.
Mark Miles, president and CEO of Penske Entertainment, described the calendar as “a dynamic showcase for our sport and its stars, blending fan-favourite race weekends with incredible showcases at exciting new venues.” The season opens on March 1 at St. Petersburg, Florida, followed by races at Phoenix Raceway on March 7, Arlington on March 15, and Barber Motorsports Park on March 29.
The Long Beach Grand Prix is scheduled for April 19, with a May 9 event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course leading into the famed oval race. Detroit’s street race follows on May 31. The schedule continues with an oval race in St. Louis on June 7, Road America on June 21, Mid-Ohio on July 5, and Nashville Superspeedway on July 19.
The final portion of the season includes Portland on August 9, Markham on August 16, the Milwaukee doubleheader on August 29-30, and concludes with the season finale at Laguna Seca on September 6.
