Lewis Hamilton has rejected suggestions of tension within Ferrari following team chairman John Elkann’s recent remarks advising him and teammate Charles Leclerc to “focus on driving and talk less.” Speaking ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, the seven-time world champion said he did not take the comments personally and remains in regular contact with the Ferrari chief.
Ferrari recently endured a double retirement in Sao Paulo, marking their third race this season without points.
Once close runners-up to McLaren, the team has slipped to fourth in the constructors’ standings behind McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull.
Hamilton, in his first season with Ferrari, stressed that the team’s struggles are shared across the organisation and affirmed that team harmony remains intact.
“I joined this team knowing full well that it takes time to steer a ship in a different direction,” Hamilton explained. “This is a huge team. There are so many little parts, and we can’t fix it quickly. It takes real time.” Reflecting on the recent setbacks, he added, “It’s like climbing a mountain—sometimes you slip back a few steps, but you get back up and try again. I back this team 100 per cent and myself 100 per cent. When we get things right, it’s going to be amazing, and I truly believe that’s going to happen.”
