Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua Fight Set for Cardiff on December 11

The long-awaited heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is expected to take place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11, with final arrangements still being completed.

Cardiff has emerged as the leading venue after weeks of uncertainty over where the all-British clash would be staged. BBC Sport reports that Netflix, Saudi Arabian organisers Sela and the fighters’ camps are still working through the remaining details, with an official announcement expected soon.

The fight had appeared increasingly likely to take place at New York’s Madison Square Garden, where a November date had been discussed. However, Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn maintained their position that the bout should be held in the United Kingdom because of the terms of their agreement.

That stance eventually shifted the focus back to Britain, with Cardiff becoming the preferred option. Fury has reportedly agreed to stage the contest in the UK, allowing negotiations to progress toward the Welsh capital.

Principality Stadium offers a major advantage for a December event because of its retractable roof. The venue can accommodate more than 73,000 spectators, allowing organisers to retain the scale of a major stadium fight while reducing concerns over winter weather.

The stadium also provides greater flexibility over the event schedule. A later start could help the fight reach a larger US audience through Netflix, although the exact timing has yet to be finalised. Hearn has rejected speculation that the main event would begin as late as 3am in the UK.

Joshua already has a strong history at the Cardiff venue. He stopped Carlos Takam there in 2017 before returning five months later to defeat Joseph Parker and add the WBO heavyweight title to his collection.

The December 11 date remains provisional until all contractual, venue and broadcast arrangements are completed. Reports indicate that the fight is expected to be formally announced once those final details are resolved.
