Franco Colapinto has been cleared to compete in the Las Vegas Grand Prix after surviving a high-speed crash during qualifying. The 21-year-old Argentine lost control of his Williams car at Turn 15, slamming into a wall in cold and slippery conditions. Despite the significant damage to his car, Colapinto was able to climb out unscathed and was taken to the circuit's medical center for evaluation.
After a thorough medical examination, Colapinto was deemed fit to race and will start from 14th place on the grid. Williams confirmed that the crash had been fully assessed by the event's medical team, and the driver was cleared to continue with the race. The team expressed relief that Colapinto was well enough to participate following the incident, emphasizing his health as their top priority.
The crash required a complete rebuild of Colapinto's car, marking the fifth time in just three Grands Prix that Williams has had to replace a car due to damage, resulting in an estimated cost of nearly $10 million in parts. Colapinto, who joined Williams mid-season, has caught the attention of several teams, with rumors linking him to potential future moves to RB or Audi.
