NASCAR Speedweeks 2026 Preview: Daytona International Speedway Gears Up for Season Opener

NASCAR’s 2026 Speedweeks are officially underway at Daytona International Speedway, signaling the start of the new Cup Series season and leading to the highly anticipated 68th running of the Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 15. Fans can expect a week filled with high-speed action, championship-caliber competition, and plenty of drama.

The week kicks off with practice sessions and Daytona 500 qualifying, followed by the Duel races on Thursday, which determine the starting positions for the main event. Meanwhile, the Craftsman Truck Series and the rebranded O’Reilly Auto Parts Xfinity Series will hold their own races, complemented by the ARCA Menards Series’ General Tire 200, giving fans multiple layers of competitive racing throughout Speedweeks.

This year’s entry list is packed, with 45 cars competing for Daytona 500 spots and dozens more across support events, showcasing the depth and talent across NASCAR’s top divisions.

All eyes will be on William Byron, the defending Daytona 500 champion, as he aims to become the first driver in Cup history to win three consecutive editions of the race. Other top competitors, including Ryan Blaney and several emerging stars, are also expected to make Speedweeks an electrifying affair.

Beyond the racing, broadcasters and organizers are emphasizing fan engagement, with live coverage across FOX, FS1, and The CW, along with on-site entertainment and activities, ensuring a full spectator experience.
