Cadillac Replace Graeme Lowdon with Marcin Budkowski as Team Principal

Cadillac have made a major leadership change during their debut Formula 1 season, replacing founding team principal Graeme Lowdon with former Alpine executive Marcin Budkowski. The move takes effect immediately, with Budkowski set to lead the team from the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort.

Lowdon played a central role in building Cadillac from the ground up and guiding the American outfit through the lengthy process of entering Formula 1. CEO Dan Towriss said the decision was driven by the team's future ambitions and the need to move from its initial construction phase into a more performance-focused period.

Towriss insisted that the change was not directly prompted by Cadillac's recent reliability problems. The team remains the only F1 outfit without a point after the opening 11 rounds of the 2026 campaign, with issues including brake overheating adding to the challenges of its inaugural season.

Budkowski brings extensive experience to the role. The 49-year-old previously worked with Prost, Ferrari and McLaren before joining the FIA's technical department, and later spent several years with Renault and Alpine, where he was executive director until his departure in 2022.

The new team principal said his priority will be to maximise Cadillac's car development within the cost cap while improving its internal processes and decision-making. He will also work with the existing technical structure as the team attempts to build a stronger foundation for future competitiveness.
