Xavi announces departure from Barcelona amidst league struggles

Barcelona was rocked by an earthquake as coach Xavi Hernandez announced his departure from the club on June 30 following another disappointing league match, a 5-3 home loss to Villarreal.

 

 Xavi stated that he felt disrespected and compelled to leave, expressing the belief that his departure could bring about a positive change in the club's direction.

 

The coach emphasized his commitment to giving his all for the team in the remaining four months of the season, even if they were to win the Champions League.

 

Following the 5-3 defeat at home against Villarreal, Xavi declared that he had reached the point of no return and made the decision to leave after discussions with President Laporta. Xavi, remaining steadfast in his decision, cited the difficulty of coaching at Barcelona, stating it is "impossible to have Ferguson in Barcelona."

 

Barcelona's struggles continued as they failed to close the gap in the league race, with Xavi expressing frustration over a controversial VAR decision in the extra time and taking responsibility for the team's overall performance.

 

Despite backing from President Laporta, Xavi's departure marks a challenging period for Barcelona, prompting players like Frenkie de Jong and Joao Cancelo to acknowledge the need for improvement and express support for the departing coach.
