Relegation-threatened Kano Pillars FC have suffered a major setback in their fight to remain in the top flight after the Appeals Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation dismissed the club’s appeal against a three-point and three-goal deduction.
The committee, which convened virtually on Friday, ruled that the sanctions imposed earlier in the campaign would remain in effect, effectively dashing Pillars’ hopes of reclaiming crucial points as the survival race intensifies.
The penalties stem from crowd disturbances that marred Pillars’ Matchday 8 home clash against Shooting Stars SC at the Sani Abacha Stadium in October 2025.
Following the incident, the Nigeria Premier Football League imposed strict disciplinary measures, including the deduction of three points and three goals, fines amounting to ₦9.5 million, and the indefinite closure of the stadium.
The league cited grave regulatory violations, notably the assault on match officials, as grounds for its decision.
With the appeal now unsuccessful, Pillars’ position on the league table remains weakened, intensifying pressure on the former champions as they continue their battle to avoid the drop.
