Super Eagles-eligible player discusses future with Chelsea coach

Super Eagles-eligible player Carney Chukwuemeka has shed light on the conversation he had with Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino regarding his future at Stamford Bridge. 

The 19-year-old midfielder, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022, had uncertainty surrounding his prospects following the departure of German manager Thomas Tuchel, who had promised him first-team opportunities upon his arrival.

Despite this, Chukwuemeka managed to make his Chelsea debut during a 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers under the management of Graham Potter, who replaced Tuchel. 

Throughout his first season at Chelsea, the young talent made fifteen appearances across all competitions, amassing a total of 362 minutes on the pitch.

However, rumors of a potential loan move before the new season added to the uncertainty surrounding his future. 

To seek clarity, the Anglo-Nigerian midfielder held a meeting with Mauricio Pochettino to discuss plans for the upcoming season.

Chukwuemeka expressed his desire to remain at Chelsea beyond the summer and revealed Pochettino's acknowledgment of his talent and willingness to support his development. 

While specific decisions regarding his future are yet to be finalized, the young midfielder is determined to showcase his abilities and contribute to the club's success.

As discussions continue, Chukwuemeka remains focused on proving himself at Chelsea and is determined to seize any opportunity that arises under Pochettino's guidance.
