The quarterback Lamar Jackson went from wanting to leave Baltimore to earning the biggest contract in Ravens history in the space of a single month.
Consider that another mind-blowing spin maneuver from Jackson.
Jackson and the Ravens signed a five-year contract on Thursday after 27 months of difficult talks.
According to a source who informed reporters, the deal is worth $260 million, making Jackson the highest-paid player in the league at $52 million annually. According to the source, it comprises $185 million in guaranteed funds.
Jackson was reportedly after the $230 million in guaranteed compensation that Deshaun Watson received from the Cleveland Browns last season, according to sources. As part of his five-year, $230.5 million agreement, Kyler Murray got a guaranteed $189.5 million from the Cardinals.
"For the last few months, there has been a lot of he said, she said," Jackson said in a video posted by the Ravens on their Twitter account.
"A lot of nail-biting. A lot of head-scratching going on."
Jackson then held up a football with a Ravens logo and said, "But for the next five years, it's a lot of 'flock' going on."
