Sadio Mané to Acquire French Club Bourges Foot 18

Posted : 26 October 2023
In a groundbreaking move, Senegalese football superstar Sadio Mané has agreed to acquire French fourth division club Bourges Foot 18. This is a major milestone for African footballers, as it sets a precedent for other players to consider ownership opportunities.

Mané's journey to Bourges Foot 18 began in 2020, when he was introduced to club president Cheikh Sylla, a fellow Senegalese entrepreneur. Impressed by Sylla's vision and leadership, Mané made discreet financial contributions to the club, even before finalizing his acquisition.

Bourges Foot 18 is currently at the bottom of the fourth division table, but Sylla has ambitious plans to elevate the club to the second division by 2030. With Mané's backing, Bourges Foot 18 is poised to make significant strides in the coming years.

Sylla arrived in Bourges in the early 2000s and quickly established himself as a successful businessman. He managed a local McDonald's franchise and sponsored Bourges Foot 18. In 2021, he led the merger of Bourges' two soccer teams and became the president of Bourges Foot 18.

Second division clubs in France have an average valuation of €16 million, with the lowest valuation at €8 million and the highest valuation at €34 million. Mané has already made two significant signings for Bourges Foot 18, Moussa Konaté and Mayoro N'Doye, who have market values of €500,000 and €200,000 respectively (according to Transfermarkt GmbH & Co. KG). Mané is currently under contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr until 2027, and is set to earn approximately €165 million if he completes his contract.

Mané's investment will lead to a major transformation of Bourges Foot 18, as the club transitions from a sports association to a private entity by January 2024. This is a bold move that has the potential to revolutionize the French football landscape.
