Richarlison in Contract Dispute With Tottenham After Everton Move Collapses

Tottenham and Brazil forward Richarlison are reportedly locked in a dispute over the final months of his contract after his proposed return to Everton collapsed on transfer deadline day. The 29-year-old is understood to be seeking a way out of north London, while Spurs have rejected the idea of simply releasing him.

Richarlison had been expected to return to Everton as part of a wider transfer plan involving Tottenham and the Merseyside club. However, the move failed to materialise before the English transfer window closed, leaving the forward at Tottenham despite his desire to leave.

The situation has become increasingly difficult, with negotiations between Richarlison's representatives and Tottenham continuing over his future. Spurs are not currently prepared to agree to the player's preferred solution of terminating his contract and allowing him to depart as a free agent.

Richarlison has also been left out of Tottenham's 25-man Premier League squad. Manager Roberto De Zerbi previously said the striker had made his desire to leave clear on several occasions, while the club brought in additional attacking options during the transfer window.

The Brazilian still has a contract with Tottenham and could potentially remain tied to the club beyond the current agreement because Spurs hold an option for an additional year. Earlier reports also indicated interest from Turkish club Trabzonspor, whose transfer window remained open after the English deadline.

Richarlison was Tottenham's leading Premier League scorer last season, making his exclusion another indication of how far relations between the player and club have deteriorated. De Zerbi had previously praised his importance to the team but ultimately left him out of the squad after the forward continued to push for a move.
