Rangers Int'l FC gets royal blessings ahead of FA Cup final

Ahead of Wednesday’s NFF-TINGO Federation Cup 2023 final match against old-rivals, Bendel Insurance F.C of Benin City at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium, officials of the ‘Flying Antelopes,’ Rangers International F.C, has paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Asaba kingdom, H.R.H, Obi Chike Edozien, Cfr., J.P, The Asagba of Asaba who gave his royal blessings to the team.
Led by the Administrative Secretary of the club, Barrister Ferdinand Ugwuarua, and other top management staff of the club, the team was well received by the highly revered monarch and other high chiefs of the kingdom at his palace, with strong words that the team succeeds in its quest to be crowned champions of the oldest football club competition in the country.
The nonagenarian charged the team to be their best during the match to help them achieve their target.
In his introductory remarks, Ugwuarua relayed the experience of the team in the 2018 edition of the competition where the Enugu side rallied from three goals down to even scores in the last 13 minutes of play and went on to be crowned champions after a penalty shoot-out win against Kano Pillars.
"Your Royal Highness, we are here to pay due honors to the gods of the land and seek your blessings as we play the final match of the oldest club competition in the country.
"We were here in 2018 and the land of Asaba gave us victory and we have come again to get your blessing for a repeat," he asked.
Other officials that were at the palace were Chief Patrick Nworji, Director of scouting; coach Okey Odita; Okafor Christopher and Kits Manager; Onaga Emeka.
Also present at the visit were the Coordinator; Emeka Ike, Protocol Officer; Emmanuel Ejakita, Welfare Officer; Okolie Norbert, Media Officer; Silvester Emehelu, Pilot; and Onovo Boniface, Director of Organising, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Enugu state.
The final match of the 2023 Federation Cup kicks off at 5.00 pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, inside Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
