Peseiro reveals the reasons behind inviting Ahmed Musa for 2023 AFCON qualifiers

Jose Peseiro, the head coach of the Super Eagles, has provided insight into his decision to include Ahmed Musa, the forward from Sivasspor, in the Nigerian national team roster for the upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone. 

Musa's inclusion has sparked criticism from the Nigerian football community due to his inconsistent performances at the club level. 

In response to the backlash, Peseiro has emphasized the value that Musa brings to the team in terms of experience and leadership, contributing to the overall team spirit.

Musa's impact on the team was evident in the previous match against Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau in March, where he came on as a substitute and effectively put pressure on the opponents' defense with his crosses and ball control. 

Addressing the media, the former Sporting CP manager elaborated on the reasoning behind Musa's selection, stating, "When building a team, it is important to consider all aspects and actions. I firmly believe that Musa can contribute to our team, and we need his wealth of experience, leadership qualities, and commanding presence. Having him in the squad will foster team spirit, organization, and a sense of unity."

Peseiro's decision to include Musa in the Super Eagles' squad reflects his belief in the forward's abilities and the positive influence he can have on the team dynamics.
