NPFL Match Day 17 Prematch: Bendel Insurance keep title hope alive with a titanic battle against Shooting Stars

It will be a battle of wits at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 17 as Bendel Insurance FC welcomes its old foe, the Shooting Stars, for the all-important match day fixture.

Both clubs have shared a long history of rivalry dating back to the late 70s, and now the fierce battle will continue as Bendel Insurance will want to go for the maximum points to draw them closer to the first league crown in the last 44 years, having won in 1973 and 1979.

Bendel Insurance comfortably sits at the summit of the Abridged Group A NPFL table with 32 points from 16 matches, an invincible record with no match lost so far in their last 16 matches.

Although Bendel Insurance have yet to taste victory in the last three matches, having secured draws, the Benin Arsenal will want to seek redemption against their familiar foe, the Shooting Stars, who currently sit a distant sixth on the NPFL table with 21 points from 16 matches.
