NPFL 2024/25: Nasarawa United Set to Extend Salisu Yusuf’s Contract

Posted : 04 June 2025

The Technical Adviser of Nasarawa United FC, Salisu Yusuf, has earned widespread praise for turning the fortunes of the struggling team around and transforming them into a formidable side during the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

To salvage the club’s precarious campaign, Nasarawa United appointed former Super Eagles Chief Coach Yusuf to replace the erstwhile coach, Kabir Dogo.

The club placed great faith in Yusuf’s wealth of experience to help reverse its fortunes, especially as it faced a serious relegation threat.

The Kaduna State-born CAF ‘A’-licensed coach, Salisu Yusuf, boasts an impressive coaching résumé at both club and national team levels.

The club reassured its supporters of its commitment to improving performance and competing at the highest level of Nigerian club football.

“We appreciate your continued support and understanding during this period of transition,” the club stated.

Yusuf has managed to galvanize the team and ensured that it remained competitive throughout the season.

In recognition of his achievements, the Chairman of Nasarawa United Football Club, Solomon Babanjah, confirmed that contract extension talks are underway with Coach Salisu Yusuf.

Babanjah also stated that the discussions are progressing well.

“Our negotiations are about 80 percent complete,” Babanjah revealed.

“We’re still sorting out a few logistical details, but hopefully, everything will be finalized in the coming days.”

He added that once the deal is sealed, the club will shift focus to squad reinforcement.

“Recruitment decisions will be led by the technical team, but I believe adding five or six quality players to our current squad will put us in a strong position to challenge for the title next season,” he said.
