Nnamdi Chinecherem wins bronze medal in men's Javelin throw at NCAA Championship

Posted : 08 June 2023
Experiencing the sweet taste of redemption, Nnamdi Chinecherem, a remarkable athlete from Baylor University, soared to a bronze medal in the fiercely competitive men's Javelin throw event at the NCAA Championships.

Displaying his remarkable talent and determination, Chinecherem initially took the lead with an impressive first throw, only to be overtaken by LSU's formidable defending champion, Tzuriel Pedigo, who astounded the crowd with a record-breaking school throw of 79.79m on his third attempt.

Undeterred by the challenge, Chinecherem unleashed a mighty throw of 78.36m, securing the coveted bronze medal and elevating himself from last year's fourth-place finish.

This remarkable achievement adds to his illustrious record as a two-time BIG 12 Champion and further establishes his status as an NCAA medalist, cementing his place among the most talented and accomplished throwers in the country.

Alongside Chinecherem, his Baylor teammate Ezekiel Nathaniel displayed his own brilliance, qualifying for the highly anticipated 400m Hurdles final with an impressive time of 48.95s.

Nathaniel's exceptional performance also contributed to his school's success in securing a spot in the thrilling 4x400m relay final.

As the championship unfolds, both Chinecherem and Nathaniel will undoubtedly unleash their full potential, striving to amass valuable points and seize the podium in their respective events, thereby further solidifying Baylor's dominance on the grand stage of collegiate athletics.
