Max Eisenbud defends Emma Raducanu's coaching approach despite high turnover

Emma Raducanu's agent, Max Eisenbud, has come to the defense of the young tennis player's approach to working with coaches, despite facing criticism for the high turnover of coaches in the past two years. Raducanu, who shot to fame by winning the US Open at the age of 18 in 2021, has worked with five different coaches during this period.
Eisenbud, the senior vice-president of IMG, stated that the approach has been successful for Raducanu and her father, Ian. He emphasized that it is likely to continue throughout her career as it suits their preferences and comfort levels.
While acknowledging that the approach may not be conventional, Eisenbud expressed that it is acceptable to do things differently in the world of tennis.
Raducanu's coaching journey started with Nigel Sears, who departed shortly after her impressive performance in the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2021. Andrew Richardson then guided her to her historic victory at Flushing Meadows.
Subsequently, she worked with Torben Beltz, who left in April 2022, and was later replaced by Dimitri Tursunov, who raised concerns about potential issues if Raducanu continued to receive advice from multiple sources. Just last month, she parted ways with Sebastian Sachs.
Eisenbud highlighted that Raducanu and her father have had a consistent pattern of changing coaches even during her junior career. He explained that they control all coaching decisions and have their own philosophy, which has led to a revolving door of coaches.
According to Eisenbud, the tennis coaching world has a limited pool of great coaches available for frequent travel and long-term commitments, leading to coaches being recycled frequently.
He acknowledged that this situation may make it challenging for Raducanu to find a replacement for Sachs. While Raducanu's frequent changes in coaches may not fit the traditional mold, her agent remains supportive of her approach, emphasizing its success in her career so far.
