Manchester United and Everton in Race to Sign Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester

Posted : 26 June 2025

Premier League giants Manchester United and Everton are reportedly vying to sign Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City for approximately £9.5 million, following the Foxes’ relegation to the Championship.

Ndidi’s contract includes a relegation release clause, which was triggered after Leicester's demotion, allowing him to leave at the discounted fee.

The 28‑year‑old defensive midfielder made 28 Premier League appearances last season, contributing five assists, and has been a consistent performer for Leicester since signing from Genk in 2017.

Manchester United, contending with a restricted transfer budget after missing out on European qualification, see Ndidi as an affordable way to reinforce their midfield—amid growing uncertainty over the futures of key players like Casemiro .

Meanwhile, Everton have long expressed interest in bringing Ndidi to Goodison Park, viewing him as a strong fit to bolster their midfield options. However, they may face competition from clubs in the Saudi Pro League, who are also monitoring the Nigerian international.

Previously valued at around €40 million, Ndidi’s market worth has dropped following Leicester’s relegation—but his defensive intelligence and experience make him an attractive proposition for Premier League and international suitors.

With interest mounting, Leicester may capitalize on the opportunity to overhaul their squad, while Ndidi appears poised to return to the Premier League with a two-year injury-free background and significant experience.
