LSFA Chairman, Oki, promises birth of new football in Lagos
Posted : 18 June 2023
The emergence of Fouad Oki as the newly-elected chairman of the Lagos State Football Association has come as a hurricane in the state football ecosystem.
Oki had defeated Tade Azeez 13-1 in an election held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena (formerly known as Onikan Stadium), Lagos, to emerge as the newly elected Chairman of Lagos State Football Association (LSFA)
As a technocrat with the wherewithal to pilot the affairs of the footballing state-Centre of Excellence, Oki’s approach and movement in the development of football, particularly at the grassroots level is yielding a positive result.
The summons of meetings and Congress coming up with frameworks and channelling energies into the developmental programmes in multidimensional approach, top his agenda.
As someone with the requisite knowledge in the organised sector, the administration and management of football under his watch will receive astronomical growth.
He has vowed to revive the administration of football in areas such as Street Soccer Tournament, J-League, IBILE Cup, Principal Cup and Oba Cup, and unflinching support to other transformation programmes geared towards the development of youths in the state.
Oki assures that he will use his good office and available avenues to drive the wheel of football in the state, by creating enviable platforms for youths to achieve their potential in football.
As part of efforts to deepen football development at the grassroots and for effective co-ordination of activities in the state, Local Football Council has been established to consolidate on the existing five divisions which comprise Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos and Epe.
Oki and his board are ready to work in tandem with the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) to build a sustainable foundation for a vibrant sports industry and culture in order to make Lagos the leading sports destination in Africa.
Fouad Oki is towing that path as he has just observed the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL Super-6 Play-offs held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena,Onikan, Lagos.
With the right man in charge of Lagos FA, coupled with the establishment of local football council, it means the current board led by Oki is ready to take the youths off the streets for something meaningful.
