The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, announced on Thursday the donation of four brand new vehicles to Lobi Stars Football Club to address challenges they faced while traveling for games. The ceremony, held at the Old Banquet Hall of Government House, Makurdi, saw Governor Alia expressing gratitude to the club's Management, Staff, and Players for their commendable results. He thanked them for bringing joy to the people of Benue and expressed pride in associating with the team. The donated vehicles include a 32-seater Toyota Coaster bus, two 18-seater Toyota buses, and one Toyota Hilux.
Governor Alia acknowledged the judiciary as a beacon of hope for the common man after the Supreme Court affirmed his election. As part of his government's support, he gifted two cows and a cash donation to Lobi Stars goalkeeper Lucky Abdullahi, who is soon to be married. Additionally, the Governor approved the immediate payment of outstanding 12 match bonuses to players and assured the team of playing their matches at Aper Aku Stadium before the season's end. He pledged to upgrade the stadium to international standards.
The Governor thanked his Deputy, Barr Sam Ode, who serves as the Chairman of the club, as well as the Youth, Sports, and Creativity Commissioner, Rt. Hon. Terkimbi Ikyiange, and the Vice Chairman and CEO of the club, Dominic Iorfa, for their collaborative efforts. Deputy Governor Barr. Sam Ode expressed gratitude for the Governor's trust in overseeing the affairs of the club and highlighted the tremendous support received during their tenure. He praised Vice Chairman Iorfa for his valuable knowledge in football administration.
During the handover of the vehicle keys to the VC on behalf of the Government, Commissioner Rt. Hon. Terkimbi Ikyange thanked Governor Alia for addressing the club's challenges and assured the judicious use of the donated vehicles. VC/CEO Dominic Iorfa expressed gratitude to the Governor and Deputy for entrusting him with leading Lobi Stars, promising loyalty and support. Jerseys carrying inscriptions of Alia 01 and Ode 02 were presented to Governor Alia and his Deputy. Team Captain Daniel Atsaka, on behalf of the players, congratulated the Governor and Deputy on their Supreme Court victory, expressed gratitude for consistent support, and pledged not to disappoint. The event concluded with the presentation of Jerseys to the Governor and his Deputy and the handing over of the vehicle keys to the VC.
