Latest transfer news: Manuel Ugarte, Kai Havertz, Ivan Fresneda, Mateo Kovacic, Mac Allister in transfer talks

Posted : 06 June 2023
The transfer window is one of the most anticipated times in world football. This is the time when clubs are given the opportunity to fine-tune their squads either by making incoming signings or by selling some of their players.

As the 2023 summer transfer window draws closer, it is only natural for clubs around the world to start laying the groundwork for impending transfers. As such, there are numerous transfer stories going on behind the scenes, and we will bring the latest to our readers below:

Manuel Ugarte To Paris Saint Germain

After an incredible 24 hours of negotiation, it has been confirmed by Italian football transfer guru Fabrizio Romano that French giants PSG have broken through in their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Chelsea had been hot on the heels of Ugarte but appear to have been blown out of the water with PSG tabling an irresistible offer to the player while also offering to pay the full release clause for the midfielder, which is thought to be around 60 million euros.

This deal has taken place really quickly, and it is rumoured that Paris St-Germain may even announce the player as early as this week. Chelsea would have to continue their search for midfield reinforcements elsewhere if everything went as reported.

Kai Havertz To Real Madrid

As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano via his official Twitter page, Real Madrid and manager Carlo Ancelotti are very interested in bringing German midfielder Kai Havertz to the Santiago Bernabeu.

After an exciting transfer to Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen, Havertz has struggled to deliver consistent performances despite scoring the winning goal that brought the UEFA Champions League to Stamford Bridge in 2021.

Romano made it known that Chelsea are open to discussing Havertz' exit but are not interested in discussing any loan offer. The Blues are also reported to be looking to recoup a significant fee fir the German midfielder.

Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund seriously interested in Ivan Fresneda

Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda is being tracked by big clubs around the world, with Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund leading the pack. Valladolid were relegated from La Liga, and reports from Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the defender would be available for his release clause, which is in the region of 20 million euros.

Both clubs locked horns in January over the ball-playing defender, but the player decided to stay in Spain. It appears both clubs will be slugging it out with each other for the player this summer again.

Mac Allister completes agreement to join Liverpool

According to Fabrizio Romano, Brighton's Argentine World Cup-winning midfielder, Alexis Mac Allister, has completed an agreement to join Jürgen Klopp's side, Liverpool. It is said that Liverpool will trigger his release clause, which is much lower than the 60 million pounds that have been circulated in the media.

It is no news that Liverpool needed a midfield makeover, with the likes of Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho becoming less and less reliable. It seems the Reds are swinging into action early this summer, as their actions suggest. Alexis Mac Allister is also set to sign a five-year contract that will take him through 2028 at Anfield Stadium, as reports say.

Marco Asensio set to sign for Paris St Germain

Reliable football transfer guru David Ornstein has confirmed that Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio is set to complete a sensational move to French giants Paris St-Germain.

The journalist revealed that Asensio's contract is winding down and he will be signing with PSG on a long-term contract.

The journalist emphasises that the contract has not yet been signed, but it will be when Real Madrid finish their La Liga campaign on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou set to take over at Tottenham Hotspur

Reports from David Ornstein's official Twitter page have confirmed that Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is getting very close to being hired as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur.
The report also claims that it is anticipated that the transfer agreement between Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur will be formalised in the coming days.
The fifty-seven-year-old Ange Postecoglou has distinguished himself as the top applicant for the Tottenham Hotspur position after following the recruitment procedure.

Chelsea give Manchester City permission to speak to Mateo Kovacic

Another surprising transfer report from David Ornstein has confirmed that English giants Chelsea have given Premier League rivals Manchester City permission to speak with their crucial midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

The report also states that dialogue is taking place between both clubs, but a transfer fee has yet to be discussed between both parties. Other clubs, such as Bayern Munich, also want the player, but Kovacic is said to favour a move to Manchester City.

This move comes as a surprise to everyone but is very relatable, as Manchester City midfielders Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva have been linked with transfers to Barcelona. Kovacic is the ideal player that Pep Guardiola would like to replace either of them.

Here is our summary of the latest transfer news going around in world football. Stay tuned for more updates.
