Lagos Street Soccer Championship gets new Kick-Off date

The Chairman, Lagos Street Soccer championship committee, Mr. Bolaji Yusuf, has announced a new kick-off date for the eagerly anticipated Season 8 of the Lagos Street Soccer championship.

According to Yusuf, October 15, 2023, is the new kick-off date which is to allow for putting the finishing touches to the preparations. 

The opening ceremony and official kick-off of the 5-a-side football championship will be held at Obele Odan Playing Ground, Surulere, Lagos after Surulere Local Government won the hosting right for the tournament’s opening games.

According to Yusuf “The kick-off has been rescheduled due to various renovation stages being completed at designated facilities, in compliance with safety requirements and consultations with the project’s associates and stakeholders.

“It is based on living up to the project principles and taking into account new realities that no stone is left unturned in our pursuit of a 360-degree reactivation for the fulfilment of our goals and the satisfaction of stakeholders that the new date was set.

“Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by this postponement to your arrangements for the opening ceremony.”

The grassroots football championship is expected to parade more than 1,000 teams featuring men’s and women’s teams, including the U15 category.
