Joao Felix: Chelsea's transfer blunder, Gary Neville pokes fun "signed everybody"
Posted : 26 May 2023
After Manchester United defeated Chelsea 4-1, Neville voiced his shock and dissatisfaction at Chelsea's choice to forgo include a buyout option in Felix's loan agreement.
After coming off the bench in the second half, Chelsea's playmaker from Portugal, Felix, scored a late consolation goal.
Despite the club spending a substantial amount on incoming transfers—more than £600 million annually—Neville questioned why Chelsea was unable to sign Felix to a permanent contract.
Felix received high acclaim from Neville, who emphasized his superb ball control, judgement, and finishing skills. He voiced his surprise that Chelsea had acquired a number of players but had not managed to obtain an option on the one player they ought to have prioritized.
Felix has lost favour at Atletico Madrid, and it is anticipated that he may look for a long-term move during the forthcoming transfer window. He has liked his time at Chelsea, but he hasn't said if he'll stay with the team again.
Despite Felix being one of the few bright spots in Chelsea's poor season, the London club may have to pay more for Felix because there was no prior agreement between Chelsea and Atletico.
