James Harden banned from Sixers' flight amid ongoing controversy

The ongoing controversy surrounding James Harden in Philadelphia remains a point of contention. Recent reports in the US indicate that the team has taken the extraordinary step of preventing the guard from boarding the flight to Milwaukee for their first game of the season, which the Sixers ultimately lost 118-117. This incident is part of the ongoing saga that began this summer when Harden expressed his desire to leave the team, following sharp criticisms of franchise president Daryl Morey.
 
In a surprising turn of events, despite his previous statements, Harden reluctantly participated in team practice and even boarded the flight to Milwaukee. However, he was met by security personnel who made it abundantly clear that he was not authorized to accompany the team.
 
General manager Alton Brand and head coach Nick Nurse subsequently informed Harden that the plan was for him to undergo training and regain his physical fitness at the team's facilities, with a focus on monitoring his physical stats and speed.
 
Harden's frustration with the situation is palpable, especially considering his prior request for a release from the Clippers, who were interested in him. Having missed the entire preseason with the Sixers, he expressed disappointment in Murray, the team's management, alleging broken promises regarding a long-term contract or a trade.
 
This latest development may raise concerns for Philadelphia, as Harden is not dealing with an injury, and the league has signaled its intention to investigate whether both Philadelphia and Harden are in violation of new league rules designed to prevent star players from participating in nationally broadcast games when such disputes arise.
