Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams has been diagnosed with season-ending tears to his ACL, meniscus, and associated ligaments in his right knee, according to sources. The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter of Saturday's 125-119 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks when Williams was driving to the basket with just under four minutes left.
The Hornets confirmed the injury on Sunday, stating that the initial diagnosis revealed an ACL tear, but did not provide an exact timeline for his recovery, indicating he would be out indefinitely. Williams has been a key contributor to the team, averaging 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game this season.
In his sixth NBA season, Williams had become a valuable leader for the Hornets, starting alongside teammates LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Miles Bridges. He was acquired in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks during last season's trade deadline, and his absence will be a significant loss for the team.
