Frosinone seeks Super Eagles forward for Serie A

Posted : 29 July 2023
Newly promoted Serie A team, Frosinone Calcio, is actively looking to reinforce their squad as they prepare for their return to the prestigious Italian topflight.

After securing a top finish in Serie B last season, the club earned a well-deserved spot in the elite league, and they are determined to make an impact.

One of their potential transfer targets is Nigerian forward Josh Maja, who has recently become a free agent after parting ways with Bordeaux.

At just 24 years old, Maja has already shown great promise, evident in his impressive performance in Ligue 2, where he scored an impressive 16 goals.

Although his efforts fell short of securing Bordeaux's promotion to Ligue 1, he now seeks a fresh opportunity to shine in a new environment.

Frosinone sees Maja as more than just a viable option, given his talents and potential contributions to the team's success in Serie A.

However, they face tough competition from numerous other clubs who are also eager to secure his services.

The appeal of Serie A as a destination for Maja is further strengthened by the recent successes of Nigerian forwards in the league.

Players like Victor Osimhen of Napoli, who became the top scorer with 26 goals last season, have achieved remarkable feats, setting a milestone for African players in the league.

Ademola Lookman also had an outstanding debut campaign at Atalanta, scoring 13 goals and ranking among the top five goal scorers.

More recently, Samuel Chukwueze's move to AC Milan from Villarreal further solidifies the trend of Nigerian talent shining in the Italian topflight.

With Frosinone actively exploring various player profiles and with the track record of Nigerian forwards in Serie A, the club's pursuit of Josh Maja seems to be an exciting prospect for both the team and the player himself.
