FIFA bans Luis Rubiales for three years over non-consensual kiss

Former Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales has received a three-year ban from all football-related activities by Fifa due to a kiss on forward Jenni Hermoso following Spain's Women's World Cup final win over England.
The kiss, which Hermoso stated was not consensual, led to significant outcry and Rubiales's eventual resignation from his position in September. Hermoso had filed a legal complaint against Rubiales, and the incident overshadowed Spain's historic victory in the Women's World Cup. Rubiales denied the allegations, and the case is still "subject to a possible appeal."
Fifa's decision to ban Rubiales for three years was based on his breach of article 13 of its disciplinary code, which pertains to offensive behavior and violations of the principles of fair play. Rubiales had claimed that the kiss was "mutual," but Hermoso consistently asserted otherwise.
The incident and its aftermath led to a boycott by a majority of the World Cup-winning squad until changes were made within the football federation, including the removal of the World Cup-winning manager Jorge Vilda, who was sacked in September and is now under investigation as part of the criminal case against Rubiales.
Despite the controversy surrounding the incident and its aftermath, Jenni Hermoso returned to the national side in October and scored an 89th-minute winner against Italy, indicating her commitment to the sport despite the difficulties she had faced.
