Dr. Olusola Osetoba, Technical Advisor to the governor on Sports Development, made this announcement in Ado-Ekiti, revealing that the officials, including General Manager Mr. Adekunle Adeyemi, Mr. Isaac Elegbeleye, Mr. Isiaka Oluyemi, and Mr. Olusola Ibitoye, have been reassigned to positions within the ministry.
Osetoba further stated that new officials would soon be appointed to fill the vacant positions within the sports council, as the government moves forward with plans to refurbish the Oluyemi Kayode stadium and construct a sports hall at the Ekiti Kete Pavilion.
Additionally, there are plans for a total restructuring of the state-owned football clubs, Ekiti United and Ekiti Queens, as Osetoba acknowledged administrative lapses within the clubs and assured the formation of a new board to enhance their performance.
She expressed gratitude to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for their past support and urged them to continue backing the administration's efforts to elevate sports in the state.
The officials had initially faced suspension due to allegations of fund mismanagement and inadequate kitting of Ekiti athletes during the 7th National Youth Games in Asaba in 2023.
