Djokovic Hopes to Play in Indian Wells and Miami Masters Events

The United States Tennis Association and the US Open are hoping that the Indian Wells and Miami Masters competitions will feature the world number one Novak Djokovic.
Because he wasn't vaccinated against Covid-19, the 35-year-old 22-time Grand Slam winner has requested special authorization. He had formerly missed US Open for this same reason last year.
Up until at least April 10, foreign visitors to the US must show proof of immunization.
Two of the most well-known tennis competitions outside of the Grand Slams, Indian Wells and the Miami Open, start on March 6 and March 20, respectively.
Djokovic, who is taking part in the Dubai Tennis Championships this week and will play in the Indian Wells draw on Monday, said: "If I'm not allowed, I'm going to pull out, of course, before the draw."
The US Open tweeted the following: "Novak Djokovic is one the greatest champions our sport has ever seen. The USTA and US Open are hopeful that Novak is successful in his petition to enter the country, and that the fans will be able to see him back in action at Indian Wells and Miami."
Djokovic has stated he would choose to skip Grand Slams than receiving a Covid shot. He also skipped the Australian Open last year and was deported as a result of his vaccination status.
