Delayed Juventus' 15-point fine awaiting a new trial

The famous Italian team moved up to third place in Serie A and is now in the running for a place in the Champions League for the next season after a 15-point punishment was delayed on Thursday.
After a three-hour hearing the day before, Juventus has now received the points back while the issue is being remanded to the appeals court of the soccer federation.
Any punishment would be until the following season because it is doubtful that it would be resolved before the end of the current one.
In a close race for the Champions League qualifying spots, Juventus moved up one spot from seventh to third in the league, behind Lazio by two points and Roma by three. The defending champions AC Milan are two points in front of Inter Milan after being eliminated from the top four.
Next month, the Milan clubs square off in the Champions League semifinals, while Juventus defeated Sporting CP later on Thursday to progress to the Europa League finals with a 2-1 overall victory.
Francesco Calvo, the chief football officer of Juventus, said the club appreciated how the judgment affected the Serie A standings since it gave Juventus and the other teams vying for a berth in next year's European Champions League some level of certainty.
