Danilo Suffers Serious Injury in Nottingham Forest’s Premier League Opener

Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo suffered a significant injury just 10 minutes into their Premier League opener against Bournemouth on Sunday, as confirmed by manager Nuno Espírito Santo. The 23-year-old Brazilian, who transferred from Palmeiras to Forest in 2023, was stretchered off the field after a collision with Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo. The match was briefly halted to allow for medical treatment.

 

The game continued after the delay, ending in a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth. Nuno Espírito Santo expressed concern about Danilo's condition, stating that the injury appears to be serious, though the full extent is yet to be determined. He highlighted Danilo's value both as a player and as an individual, noting the midfielder's positive influence in the squad.

 

Danilo has made a notable impact since joining Forest, with six goals and four assists in 49 appearances. Nuno praised his talent and game management, emphasizing the player's importance to the team and the affection he has earned from his teammates.

 

Forest's next fixture is against newly promoted Southampton on August 24, where they will look to continue their Premier League campaign despite the setback.
